The making of the movie (well our brand video)
Our passion is in helping people to really express their true personalities through Stationery. That’s why our focus is Paper Made Personal.
The job of encapsulating the HoneyTree personality in a brand video was given to Edd Gregory, a young British Film maker. We loved the way he told his stories, with a strong narrative that was organic and authentic. It was important to us that we wanted the viewer to see that we loved what we do and wanted to share that love. We didn’t want anything stuffy, boring or staid.
A shared document was created with our team about what might be included on this project. We soon realised this could be a lovely start to the year and insight into our stationery company.
At HoneyTree every product is bespoke, created by a team that love and care about how each order is fulfilled. The genuine delight people get when opening our orders is something we wanted to share.
Edd films on a traditional camera which didn’t feel intimidating and intrusive, although a bit strange to have the camera on you all the time. He focused on my creative process in designing new illustrations for the site plus following the team around as they put together the orders in our brand new office in Frome.
Then things got a bit technical… apparently, I needed to do VO’s (Voice overs – didn’t know this jargon either). Edd worked with us all separately and made it a Q & A so we didn’t have to view the film and make a commentary.
Catching up with my husband Sebastian that evening (and throughout the project planning) it became clear ten years on at how much we still love what we do.
It was a bit like a therapy session having to look back at what we have gone through to get to this point, and it definitely made us feel a bit nostalgic.
It’s amazing how much footage had to be filmed and it gave us a new-found admiration for film-makers. We didn’t get to see any footage during the process, and the first cut came through after a couple of weeks. After a few edits we had it finalised.
We hope you enjoy seeing what HoneyTree is all about #PaperMadePersonal – do let us know if you like it.
