I shop online for most things and sometimes it feels like shops are always having some form of sale. The excitement of a sale (and the possibility of getting something you have admired from afar for a while) seems to have been diluted with tempting offers on things we don’t actually want, or need.
As a child I remember my mother had a jar in her bedroom for the New Years Day sale (with money from her moonlighting as a dance teacher). She would go to the New Years sales to buy something she really had her eye on, hoping she would be first in the queue.
It would be naive of me to think we don’t all love a bargain, but recent events like Black Friday and cyber Mon have become an opportunity for brands to jettison unwanted, out of season, and soon to be upgraded stock.
They are selling what they need to shift, rather than what the shopper wants to buy and hoping the reduction in price provides the catalyst to purchase from their curated section of sale products.
It is almost unique to hear of a business actually discounting everything they have. Understandably businesses select sale items based on those unwanted items are taking up space and cash.
Stock up on items you really really want
At HoneyTree we print everything ‘on demand’ to your design and your quantity so when we have a sale it is actually discounted the exact items you wish for… no mustard jumper one size too big because it is in the sale!
As we produce everything to order we don’t have wastage, and we don’t have to guess what designs will be popular. This means we are not in the cycle of reading trends and therefore need to sell off surplus stock (or worse still as various card shops do, burn it).
So, what do people order when we have a sale?
Social Stationery: Our top sellers are letterheads, correspondence note cards, bookplate (ex libris) and greetings cards. Did we mention Christmas stationery? 😉 With so many illustrations to choose from you can find the perfect personalised stationery gift to suit every personality.
Gifting to a friend but nervous about personalisation? Keep it simple with a design classic featuring their name only.
Personalised Invitations: There also some wonderfully organised people, who order personalised invitations for distant events, like a Christmas and New Year party. And we get that! Competition for dates around Christmas is fierce. So if you want to be in pole position for the party of the season, get your party invitations out early. With so many events happening and few dates to choose from in December, don’t let someone else in your friendship group takes your ideal date!
Personalised Stationery Gift vouchers: These are always popular as we have such a lovely tribe of stationery lovers. The vouchers make perfect presents and display the recipients name and any message. Plus gift vouchers show the full retail value (not the discounted amount) so the lucky recipient will never know you got in in the sale! £40 Voucher 20% off = you pay £32.

Hopefully our sale inspires one to delight in creating something personal, either for yourself or for someone else.
We provide the template for you to design something completely unique and delight in seeing the orders each day (actually most are submitted between 7-11pm, perhaps with a glass of wine in hand collaborating together) and to see what designs, fonts, colours and wording are used.
Keep up to date with the creative world of HoneyTree
